Modeling software

Analysis of event sequences and their consequences

Context

Within safety studies, it is necessary to examine the consequences of an initiating event, the analysis via an event tree has to be used in such a case.

Software tool

EventTree module from itemToolkit software suite.

Capacity

This module allows the event-tree analysis and the determination of minimal cut sets.

 Modularity

The import of data from other modules, (MIL HDBK, RDF2000,…; RBD…), enables to constitute the event trees.

Results

A report, which can be parametered according to the desired data, can be generated. It can be exported towards rthe most widespread software suites.

Analysis via an event tree

The analysis via an event tree looks like the analysis via a fault tree to a large extent. However, the logics that are used are different, since the process is inductive and not deductive. In an event tree, the analysis is based on the determination of the effects that a failure might generate, rather than on the identification of a failure from its effects. It is henceforth the fault tree reverted process.
